Carnival

Opening day Saturday 18th is a special Carnival Day where we turn our Chateau Neuf into an improv amusement park. We have “rides” (very short & silly workshops), casual shows, fun and board games, and a place to hang out with friends. It is a 100% volunteer run day from 10.30 AM to 16.30 PM. There is no sign-ups for most of the events—jump into the activities any time.

Carnival is free of charge.

  • Two-prov with Stephen Davidson and Jon Nguyen.

  • Pinterquint likes to explore peculiar relationships and odd sides of life. Through their two-person improv show the audience is taken on a journey with characters familiar to everyone, but who few really knows. Pinterquint are Sverre Breian and Arne Marius Ditlefsen.

  • This is a JAM that consists entirely of tags facilitated by Arfie Mansfield. It is going to be epic!

  • You got it right: everyone should do a show with Jon Nguyen, and this is your chance.

  • We are a married couple who have performed our duo-show "the day they met" at Oslo Improv festival since 2018! "The day they met" is a show that takes inspiration from one in the audience's first kiss! We explore what life would look like if they spend their life with said person. This is an intimate, heartwarming, maybe hearbreaking and fun show. Trouple is Eva Verpe and Olav Kåre Dønheim.

  • This is a short-form JAM where you get to play your favorite short-form games guided by Dr. Ron Harvey.

  • Kitchen Sink is the show where we finally say the thing out loud that you’ve been wishing you could tell someone.“Everything but the kitchen sink” means “nearly everything you could possibly imagine”. Kitchen sink realism, on the other hand, deals with the world we live in exactly as it is. This show brings a bit of both. Invi Brenna, kitchen- and storytelling connoisseur, will be joined by a guest. (The guest sets the stage with a kitchen they know well, so who’s really the host?)Come let us show you a story. It might even be YOUR story…

  • What would happen if you play the short-form improv game “Sex with me is like…” while you taste a variety of spicy sauces? Come participate in this JAM to find out! Facilitated by Aree Witoelar.

  • "Trio Lingo" is a show in YOUR language, played by speakers of three different levels: one native, one learner, and one neverspokenaword'er. Can they play together or will they get lost in lack of translation? Come find out and join us in a celebration and exploration of langauge learning and play. This show is hosted by Magnus Lomax.

  • Following the Lomax Improv show, Magnus Lomax will facilitate a Chinese/German language bonanza JAM.

  • Everything can be a bit better with a song. Even mundane things. Come with the Pebble (the rocks lesser known cousin) as he teaches you a fun way to connect with your inner motivator and find a fun way to connect to the joy that comes from singing aging the mundane things. This is a Musical improv workshop facilitated by Simon Joseph Gomes (improviser and musician).

  • A classic long-form montage. However, the only edit allowed is a Pun edit. When a character says a pun in scene, the audience must start chanting 'Pun! Pun! Pun!' and that sweeps the stage for a new scene. Any kind of pun is welcome: verbal, visual, physical, in other languages, etc. If the pun is not recognised by audience chant, the actors must continue in the scene. Facilitated by Stephen Lee.

  • Biodanza is a system of self-development using music, movement and positive feelings to deepen self-awareness. It seeks to promote the ability to make a holistic link to oneself and one's emotions and to express them. Biodanza is facilitated by Grazia Lombardi.

  • Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern that involves persistent self-doubt about one’s abilities, accomplishments, and worth, despite evidence of competence and success. Sound familiar? As improvisers and as people, many of us suffer from imposter syndrome. This carnival ride is a prototype of a longer workshop that will use therapeutic improv to address some of the common fears and thoughts and drives imposter syndrome. We will use some fun improv exercises to actually address these common fears and hopefully bring some awareness to diffuse your imposter syndrome. Facilitated by Dr. Ron Harvey.

  • Arfie Mansfield teaches you how to cheat at solo improv.

  • From the notebook to the stage. Creative writing meets improv! Facilitated by Rosa Molina.

  • Participate in this workshop means joining Jon Nguyen in the journey of creating multi-person monsters.

  • This workshop is a great opportunity to explore how our cultural diversity informs the improv we share. We will have a special focus on the North/South Europe contrasting use of subtext, rhythm and conflict. Facilitated by Carlos Moreno, a Spaniard living in Scandinavia (a Spandinavian, if you will).

  • Maria Kourkouli and Panagiota Kouzilou (Naya) are excited to improvise with you, in Greek!

  • As people telling stories around a fire camp, Janne Richard will facilitate improv games for storytellers. The only technical requirement is the ability to imagine a campfire!

  • Panagiota Kouzilou (Naya) is an improviser, and a very skilled martial arts practitioner. In this workshop she combines both her passions and leds you on a physical and phycological journey.

  • As opposed to Hollywood productions, Nordic media portrays realistic emotions that can be perceived as rather unclear. It's often shown in the looks, nuanced mimicry and actions. Unspoken, in silence. This workshop is led by Paul Omar Lervåg and Anne Kokkonen.

  • Don’t grow up — it’s a trap! Kevin Gow invites you on a joyful ride to reconnect with the true source of play and creativity: your inner child. In this session, you’ll rekindle that spark through freedom of movement, mirroring, laughter, collective imagination, and embodied play. Kevin invites you to play not to perform, but to remember — true freedom, presence, and joy, guided by your childlike wonder.

  • We will write a Taylor Swift song. A brand new one. As a group. Well look at word play; catchy lyrics and kick as bridge all with the back drop of all the things you love about Tay Tay. This is a Musical improv workshop facilitated by Simon Joseph Gomes (improviser and musician).

  • This session is the collaboration between the art community Blank Page and Oslo Improv Festival. Join to draw or to be drawn. Bring a friend along and make a scene frozen in time (a pose) for 2 to 5 minutes. Please sign up ahead of time, but drop ins are welcome as well! Sign up form: https://bit.ly/4o5eHjA

(Note: No nudity, only clothed posing!).
